Battle Knock-Out Game

Sample Battle Knock-Out Game Board

We created a 6 square game board that was shaped into a letter C (for the Civil War) for the important battles of the Civil War.

Each box entailed:

  1. Name of the Battle
  2. Visual of what happened (allow students to be creative with their visuals)
  3. Winner and Loser
  4. Start and Finish placeholders

The song attached to this lesson was Big Sean’s chart topping song “Bounce Back.” I changed the lyrics from “last night to an L, but tonight I bounce back” to “Union took the 1st L, but end of the war they bounce back.” My students really enjoyed the lesson and were able to remember the battles of the Civil War.
